ALBERT C. "BERT" LAIRD III - ESSEX JUNCTION - Albert C. "Bert" Laird III, 59, died in The Vermont Respite House March 21, 2011 after a short bout with esophageal cancer. Bert was born in Essex Junction, April 29, 1951, the son of Albert and Kathleen (Ritchie) Laird. Bert graduated from Essex Junction High school in 1969. He worked in the auto body business for 38 years and for the past 10 years he worked for Rotunda's Collision Center in Essex. Bert enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing, auto racing and four-wheeling. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy (Trombley) Laird of Essex Junction; his daughter, Laura T. Laird and her husband Marc Fauler of Miami, Fla.; and his son, Albert "Albie" Laird IV of Essex Junction. Bert also leaves his brother, Victor Laird of Bakersfied; his sisters, Susan Humphrey of Essex Junction, Mary "Molly" Prescott of Fletcher; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Bert was predeceased by his parents; his father-in-law, Joseph Trombley and mother-in-law, Shirley (Atwood) Trombley of Colchester. A celebration of Bert's life will be held this summer with a gathering of Bert's family and friends. Arrangements are in the care of Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Service, Shelburne.
